Subash’s mother left away when he was 7 years old. Now, he is growing up in a single-parent family; his father leaves home every day to go out and earn for daily expenses. They struggle to get basic food, clothes and shelter. Even though his father works all day long in the fields, the harvest is enough to feed them only for a year. The rest of the year, his father has to work on a daily wage basis in cement factories, construction PARMA system, etc. Due to unproductive, un-irrigable and infertile land, subsistence agriculture results famine in his family. Subash studies at Shree Rastriya Prathimik Vidhyalaya and comes at a good ranking in his class. It is fairly evident that he does better when he gets opportunities. So, Self Sustaining Campaign has decided to finance Subash in his education after Grade 3.
